Toledo Resident to Stand Trial for Manslaughter of Bangladeshi National
Twenty-four-year-old Juan Roberto Choc will stand trial in the April 2019 session of the Supreme Court. Choc, however, will be tried for manslaughter and not murder involving Bangladeshi national, Abdush Salam. The Toledo District resident was arraigned back in 2017 for murder, but in 2018, it was downgraded to manslaughter. Tonight he is out on bail following a preliminary inquiry in the strangling death of Salam. Choc appeared before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford. Prosecutor Sergeant Macedonio Sanchez presented twenty statements and a video clip that placed Choc at Salam’s apartment on Orange Street on July first, 2017. Police also recorded a caution statement from Choc. Senior Magistrate Ford gave him bail of six thousand dollars which he met this evening. Salam was found nude, tied up and dead inside his room; it took the police sixteen days to track down the accused.
