Poetry concert set for Friday
With Christmas less than five days away, the list of evening activities is piling up. They range from concerts in the park to office parties. So if you’re looking for something to do beside shop Friday night, Belize City poet Erwin Jones has a suggestion.

“We will look on some of the things that are affecting the nation right now. The problems with a lot of these monopolies. Down eena the ghetto the poor di bawl. Down eena the ghetto deh can’t tek it at all. With B.T.L. rates wi can’t even afford phone call. Down eena di ghetto suga taste like sal. Down eena di ghetto, ghetto people di crawl. Down eena di ghetto deh back de gainst di wall. Down eena di ghetto weh di poor so poor, pickny still hungry, but can’t beg fi more. Da four pan the bed and five pan the floor. Down eena di ghetto black people no have no show. Down eena di ghetto our political leaders, twenty-first of December, tomorrow, at the House of Culture, must know.”
The show is set to start at 7:30 Friday night at the House of Culture on Regent Street. Other presentations will be done by artists like Sherwin Garcia and the Grandmaster.
