Illegal Toledo airstrip destroyed
It seems that the new policy of having Belize and Guatemalan authorities work together near the border is already in effect. Police reports indicate that national security personnel from both countries conducted an anti-drug operation near the San Pedro River in the Toledo district around 5:30 Wednesday evening. Officers found an illegal airstrip with a burnt twin engine aircraft about ten metres from the river. A demolition team from the Belize Defence Force destroyed the runway. No one was found in the area at the time.
