Mexicans Freed for ATM Theft in Corozal
Up north in the Corozal Magistrate Court, three Mexicans were freed of theft charges by Magistrate Lionel Olivera. The case against Belen Hernandez, Joscan Jafet Hernandez and Lionel Isaac Rodriguez concluded on Wednesday. The trio was represented by Attorney Leslie Hamilton, who argued that there was no evidence to connect the Mexican nationals with the theft from the Atlantic Bank’s ATM in Corozal in January, 2018. Furthermore, he submitted that it could not be established that the money found on his clients belonged to the bank. Hamilton submitted a no case submission which was upheld by Magistrate Olivera and the Mexicans were freed. But they still have similar charges to face in the Orange Walk and Belize City.
