Murders were revenge killings says resort owner
After a day of silence, the owners of Black Rock Lodge have issued a statement to the press concerning the murder of two employees and rape of a guest on Monday night. According to a release put out by Black Rock’s proprietor, Caesar Sherard, the killings were the result of an unresolved argument between the resort’s manager, John Luce, and a neighbour some three months ago. According to Sherard, the neighbour threatened the life of Luce and others. Several people have been questioned and police are working closely with Black Rock’s owners to bring the killers to justice. Luce and assistant manager Mario Cocom were shot to death by a gang of assailants who invaded the remote lodge three miles from the Guatemalan border. Tourism officials have been particularly concerned by the killings and resulting international publicity, just as the industry is slowly rebounding from the twin shocks of September eleventh and Hurricane Iris.
