11-year-old killed in road accident

A Cayo boy is dead after being knocked down by a truck. Eleven year old Aaron Williams of Camalote Village was killed after he ran across the Western Highway into the path of an oncoming vehicle and was run over. That vehicle, a Ford Ranger pickup truck, was driven by thirty-two year old Onan McLean of Belize City. According to McLean, the child emerged onto the road from behind a loader parked on the south side of the highway between miles forty-nine and fifty. He tried to stop, but was unable to avoid hitting Williams, who later died at the Belmopan hospital. McLean has been detained pending investigations.
