Chinese businessman robbed of jewelry and cash

A Belize City businessman was also robbed over the weekend. According to police reports, Wei Chen of Vernon Street was going into his house just before 2:00 a.m. on Saturday morning when four masked men approached him. One of the men, armed with a sawed off shotgun stole his keys and forced Chen into the house. The men then stole assorted jewelry, a cell phone and money. But they weren’t satisfied. The men then took Chen’s wife and mother downstairs to the family’s store where they beat Chen’s wife and stole more money from the cash pan. The robbers disappeared into the night. At news time tonight, police have yet to make any arrests.
