An Explanation for a Sometimes Challenging Partnership
Hyde explains from the police’s point of view why the relationship with the media has been strained in the past.
Douglas Hyde, Director, Media & Public Relations, BPD
“The police, as you mentioned, is a disciplined body. The media is seen not as a disciplined body, to an extent, and so, by us sharing certain information that the media wants right away and the media needs to share to general public, we have a structure and sometimes that conflicts and sometimes knocks heads. And so we always have to find the best way of how we get our information out in retrospect of what the media wants and so what we are looking at is to work on that.”
