New Belizean CD to hit stores

Story Picture
If you’re a fan of Belizean recording artist Tony Wright, you’ll be happy to hear that there will soon be a new CD to add to your collection. Earlier today the singer/ songwriter stopped by Channel 5 to give us a preview of his latest work, and as Jacqueline Woods found out, the new CD is a serious departure from earlier offerings.

Jacqueline Woods, Reporting

“Show Mi Yu Motion, is Tony Wright’s seventh CD. In this latest album, instead of putting together the usual compilation of songs with just catchy tunes, Wright has decided to sing about social and economic issues affecting the country.

“A lot of the times the artist goes with the trend, and right now what sells is just write anything, jump, put some fast music to it, and we don’t deal with the issues any at all. But there are issues that might affect my daughter, my granddaughters and so, I just thought that we should have touch on the issues.”

The CD is the product of two years of hard work that included

assistance from other well known Belizeans.

“We have Sam Hamilton up here that did a nice bolero. We have Adele Ramos who did a sort of rap thing. You have “Open di Door,” that’s really a Creole song from way back. Then you have “Haad Time”, things bad, things rough. Like the other day, I put my bag and kis-kis on my shoulder and looked for crabs, but not even that di run. So, that deals with that issue. Then, we have “All a we da one”, which is a beautiful song, which basically deals with the different ethnic groups just getting together and being Belizean.”

Reporting for News 5, Jacqueline Woods.

“Show Mi Yu Motion” will be available starting Wednesday at local record stores for twenty-five dollars.
