Coastal Road and Other Road Upgrades are Coming
And if you are wondering when the works will begin on the coastal road, C.E.O. Errol Gentle says preliminary studies have started and once that is complete they will be able to do a design and from there a tendering process will begin. He told the media today that there are also works coming for the Philip Goldson Highway from miles twenty-four all the way to the northern border.

“I think it is an exciting time, the next couple years are going to be for Belizeans when you look at the infrastructural development of this country. For years, we have been trying to upgrade the coastal highway, finally, with the grant from the UK and the loan – it is a blend – from CDB, and we will be able to upgrade the entire coastal road. The study for that is ongoing and we are almost at the end of the study. Out of the study comes the design and once you get the design then you would be able to put to tender. But from that same grant and loan facility, we also have the upgrade of the Philip Goldson Highway from mile twenty-four and a half all the way up to the border. That will also include what we call the Remate by-pass. So, once that is done, we will have all our major highways fully-upgraded to international standard.”
