Suspected Robber Shot; the Other is in Police Custody

Police shot a robber and have another man in custody after they robbed a grocery store on Daly Street in Belize City. According to Police, two men went to Kum Hua store sometime after eight-thirty on Saturday night pretending to be customers and shortly after held up the store’s owner at gun point. The owners of the store reported that robber stole three hundred and fifty dollars but when police caught up with the two robbers on Eve Street – they were only able to recover about forty-four dollars. Today ASP Alejandro Cowo was asked if the robbers had opened fire on the cops – he said he didn’t have information. The suspect who is hospitalized and the other who is in detention are known to the cops. ASP Cowo tells us more about the incident.

“Upon arrival on Eve Street, police observed two male persons running in that direction. Based on the description provided by the victim, police pursued the guys and as a result one of the male persons was shot in the leg. Police recorded in the area about forty-four dollars and forty-five cents in coins which is suspected to be proceeds from the robbery. The robbery happened earlier on Daley Street at the Kum Hua Shop. The proprietor reported that about three-hundred and fifty-dollars were stolen from her and this was by two male persons who entered the shop. One of them ordered a gallon of water and while she was attending to him, another male person entered. She was forced into the shop and one of the male persons jumped into the counter and pointed a gun while she was outside with the man. Thereafter, they stole three-hundred and fifty dollars from the cash register and they made good their escape. The suspect that was shot is still admitted at the hospital at this moment.”
