Orange Walk Man Dies in Fatal Accident

John Triminio

A fifty-four-year-old man died in a motorcycle accident on Sunday night. Police say John Triminio of Orange Walk was driving his cycle between miles seventy-one and seventy-two on the Philip Goldson Highway when he lost control, crashed and died near San Roman village. Police say Triminio was driving on his cycle alone and was socializing with friends earlier that night. A post-mortem will tell if he was under the influence of alcohol. ACP Joseph Myvett shared the details of this fatal accident- noting that there has been an increase in traffic accidents, including motorcycles. He told the press today that police are stepping up patrols to try to curb some of these accidents.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“Orange Walk Police were called to the Northern Regional Hospital where they observed a Hispanic male with head and body injuries who was being attended to. His name was learnt to be John Triminios, fifty-four-year-old of Orange Walk Town. Our investigation has shown that the deceased was along with another male person, both travelling on separate motorcycles. When reaching between miles seventy-one and seventy-two on the highway, he lost control of the motorcycle which caused him head and body injuries.   Most of the districts have implemented or continue with their highway patrol programs. Many of us who travel the roads at night would see the number of motorcycles on the highway and some are not properly lighted. Much care is not being exercised by these motorcycle drivers, hence putting other drivers in danger. So, yes, it is a serious concern and we are taking steps by implementing additional patrols.”
