P.U.P. Councilor Micah Goodin Involved in Kerfuffle at City Hall
P.U.P. Councillor Micah Goodin was allegedly involved in a kerfuffle on Wednesday night at City Hall. Reports are that the young councilor allegedly aggressed the City Administrator and had to be removed from the premises by force. We were told that the argument was over the slow processing of funds for a sporting event. Goodin reportedly confronted the City Administrator about it and things got rather heated. Belize City Mayor Bernard Wagner was asked about it today.
Bernard Wagner, Belize City Mayor
“I was not in the office at that time. I have heard reports on it. I have not been to the office since yesterday. Actually I was on some other business and I came here early this morning but I have received reports on the matter. When I do reach the office I will be able to speak to both parties and then I will be able to give further clarification of what happened?”
Hipolito Novelo
“When you say you heard reports, are the reports confirming a physical between the councilor and the security for the city manager?”
Bernard Wagner
“My reports that I received were not physical but voice raise back and forth. I still want to meet with the parties before I answer any questions and so I can give you further clarification on what transpired. As a leader I continue to try to encourage my councilors, they are a very young group, on the protocol on how we do our business in respecting line of authority, respecting how the line is set up. What we have here is to some extent, a lot of our councilors are very young. They have never been in a structured organization, have never worked in a structured organization and so we have situation where they are still trying to din there way on how to deal with the administration of the council.”
Hipolito Novelo
“Is he a liability to the council’s image given Micah’s history in terms of his rebelliousness?”
Bernard Wagner
“All of my councilors are assets to me. I’ll leave it at that.”
