‘Blackaz’ Killer is Still on the Loose
In the crime blotter…the murder of Roy Lord remains an open investigation after police were forced to release a suspect in their most recent homicide case. The thirty-one-year-old was shot and killed shortly before midnight on Monday as he walked along Wilson Street en route to pick up his girlfriend from work. According to police, someone alighted a vehicle that had driven up beside the Lord’s Bank resident and opened fire on him. Despite the presence of surveillance cameras in the area, police are yet to make an arrest.

“On Monday, February 18th, 2019, just before midnight police visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they observed Roy Gilbert Lord, thirty-one years of age, a Belizean of Lord’s Bank area, Ladyville Village. He was seen with gunshot injuries to his body. Initial information is that the police received was that Mr. Lord was walking on Wilson Street heading towards Marine Parade Boulevard when a dark in color vehicle drove beside him, stopped a few feet away from him and a male person exited from the front passenger side and chased Mr. Lord, firing several shots in his direction, causing the abovementioned injuries. Mr. Lord unfortunately passed away at five a.m. on Tuesday morning.”

“What is your investigation telling you insofar as either a motive or Mr. Lord’s reason for being in that area at the time?”
ASP Alejandro Cowo
“What we understand is that Mr. Lord was going for his girlfriend that works in that vicinity and he had just left from his residence on New Road and up to now we cannot establish a direct motive as nothing was stolen from him. As a result of that, one person was detained, he was questioned and he had to be released because there was no linkage with that crime.”
