First solo CD released by punta rocker
Government has tried to help the local music industry by passing copyright legislation and allowing musicians to bring in their recorded CDs duty free. But now it’s time for Belizean promoters to bring the music to the public. So said, so done.

“Supa De Ya”, Lensford “Super G” Martinez’s first solo release has kept radio announcers busy today. The punta rock artist, having performed with popular bands like Punta Rebels and Griga Boyz says the time has come for him to go on his own.

“A lot of things are happening are happening in the music industry. For example, I think punta rock is now at a level that being a solo artist will be a good idea and it has stayed on a level and I plan to take punta rock on another level.”
Ten years ago, the punta rock star broke into the business as a backup singer for other big names like Chico Ramos and Mohobob Flores. But he soon began making waves of his own by thrilling crowds with his stage performances.
Today, the “Super General” has signed a contract with Love Entertainment to promote his music. Super G says he worked hard to produce the CD, and is impressed with the positive response he has already received.

“As a Garifuna I love my culture, and I try to promote punta a lot. I think punta rock is a very original kind of music and it’s Belizean music and I’m into promoting a lot of Belizean music.”
