Are Criminals Being Brought in to PG as Hired Guns?

The situation in Punta Gorda begs the question whether criminal elements are being brought in from out of town for use as hired guns. The notion arose in the wake of the shooting death of Jordy Flores a few weeks ago.  It has come up once again in light of Monday night’s bloodbath.  Earlier today, that question was posed to Senior Superintendent Marco Vidal who is also an operations commander.

“Is it that the gang elements are hiring these criminals; related to these criminals in Belize City; bringing them down to get them to carry out these crimes?”

“Well, without speculating, there are some persons who are residents in that area who are involved in drug trafficking and they are connected to some gang elements and there are some connections there. But I wouldn’t go as far as speculating beyond that.”
