Belmopan City Council says, “It wasn’t me!”

Our effort to reach someone at the RECONDEV for comment was unsuccessful. We touched base with the Belmopan City Council and they told us that they didn’t know anything about the incident until it was reported to them this morning. According to City Administrator Ralston Frazier, the Council had absolutely no part in the dismantling of the home. He told us that they are doing their own investigation into the incident.

“This was not something orchestrated, planned, set out, carried out, implemented in any shape or form by the Belmopan City Council. That I can clearly say; in fact, I will go further to say that it was probably about ten o’clock or so when our phones started to ring off the hook and we had certain visits and so forth, that is when I was aware that such a thing was going down. At that point I had to let the folks know that this is not something being done by City Council, and just in case it was being done without my knowledge, I got in touch immediately with my engineering department and I got in touch with my acting Mayor and Mayor Belisle who is out of country right now. He, too, didn’t have any knowledge of City Council being involved in such an action either. Besides, from the previous experience you guys would have had with us, you would know that is the way we do things. We would have served a proper notice and made it public. If it would have come to the point like the previous time in the Doyle’s Delight area, if the persons there would have needed some assistance we would have done so.”
