What Does Climate Resilient Infrastructure Entail?
The roll-out will see the restoration of a stretch of road between Vista del Mar and Biscayne on the Phillip Goldson Highway to meet climate resilient specifications. According to Project Coordinator Windell Parham, the Ministry of Natural Resources is also putting together a record spatial data from across the country because climate change affects everything including infrastructure.
Windell Parham, Project Coordinator
“The Climate Resilience Infrastructure Project has four major components and number one is an infrastructure component which has to do with upgrading and rehabilitating sixteen miles of highway from Vista del Mar junction to the Biscayne/Gardenia interface. So that’s the major part of the project. The second part has to do with institutional strengthening in training and mainstreaming of climate resilient information and decision in the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Work and is under the natural resources component of that second component. We have this land use policy study and we are also setting up what is referred to as a National Spatial Data Infrastructure which is basically a database of spatial data throughout the country.”
