Another Accused Murderer Walks Free
Another accused murderer walked free of the charge today. Tonight, Daniel Myvett is at home with his family after attorney Leeroy Banner was successful in getting his case thrown out. Myvett was accused of killing Nigerian national Kabiru Olongundudu. The security guard was stabbed to death while on duty at the Best Western Belize Biltmore Plaza back in February of 2010. This morning in the courtroom of Justice Colin Williams, Banner made the submission that the case has been delayed for years since Myvett’s first trial in 2015 ended in a hung jury. The court had also failed to provide a transcript from the first trial, making the retrial impossible. Justice Williams then granted a permanent stay of proceedings and Myvett was free to go. Myvett was out on a forty thousand dollar bail given to him by Justice Herbert Lord back in August 2018 after spending over eight and a half years in jail awaiting retrial.
