Meerabux launches appeal against his removal
He might have been relieved of duty, but former judge George Meerabux is determined to have his day in court. This morning, an action challenging the removal of Meerabux from the Supreme Court was adjourned by Justice Christopher Blackman. The action, filed by senior counsel Bernard Q. Pitts and attorney Kirk Anderson, alleges that there was an infringement of Meerabux’s constitutional rights when he was removed from the bench. The matter will be settled on December eleventh and is expected to last three days. Solicitor General Elson Kaseke appeared on behalf of Attorney General Godfrey Smith.
