A San Pedrano is Butchered Overnight Near DFC Area

Horace Cadle Jr.

There was also an overnight murder in San Pedro. A nineteen-year-old resident was out with friends and sometime after three o’clock this morning after leaving his friends in the DFC area, he was stabbed to death. Surveillance footage shows that he was walking alone when he was ambushed.  Horace Cadle Junior lived on the island all his life; he visited with his mother in Dangriga one week ago. Today, she explained how she found out that the life of her son had been cut short. News Five’s Isani Cayetano reports.

“Last night, sometime after eleven p.m., he was found motionless with apparent stab wounds to his body.  He was found [on] Blake Street, San Pedro area and as a result of that, police commenced an investigation where they spoke to several persons, where one of them had mentioned that he was on his way to his house and whilst passing on Blake Street he observed this male person suffering from several apparent stab wounds and he called for police.”

He had just visited his mother a week ago.  During their conversation, the mother and son did a lot of catching up since she resides in Dangriga.  Not once did he mention to her that something was wrong in his life.

“He went to visit me last week and we sat down and we talked but he never told me about nothing weh di happen eena ih life.”

As it turns out, there was trouble ahead for Cadle.  He was a long way from home when he met a bloody end at the hands of an unknown assailant who inflicted a number of stab wounds to his body.

“Horace Cadle resides at Marina Drive.  It is almost a quarter mile from where the incident happened.  Police so far have detained several persons who are in custody and who are being questioned in reference to this latest stabbing death. We know that he was last seen socializing with a group of male persons in the DFC area.  Also, it is almost a quarter mile [from] where his body was found.  We have, police in that area have viewed several cameras and it shows that he was walking by himself.  Up to this moment, we can’t establish if it was one person involved or more than one person involved in the stabbing death.”

According to Rhona Miranda-Noralez, there was something ominous about her son’s most recent visit with the family.  It’s a feeling that she cannot express in words.

“The appearance and the surprise he gave me, it shook me.  So I just felt something, just the surprise that he gave me.”

“Is it a feeling that perhaps you can describe for us?”

Voice of: Rhona Miranda-Noralez

“Ih hard.  Ah cyant describe it. This morning around 3:30 or 4:00, I saw a lot of messages on my phone and phone calls from his dad, so I decided to call him and check and see what’s happening, [not] knowing that he would have told me that they stabbed up my son and dehn kill him.”

Despite not having a criminal record, Cadle, who had been living on the island all his life, is familiar to law enforcement officers in San Pedro.

ASP Alejandro Cowo

“There are several leads that we are following.  He is a known person to police, however, we have to be clear that we don’t have anything that he has been arrested before by police, but police have had several encounters with him.”

Police say they have no motive for the deadly attack on Horace Cadle. Reporting for News Five, I am Isani Cayetano.
