B.E.L. restores power in south
Officials of Belize Electricity Limited have announced that the company is well on its way to restoring full power in the areas devastated by Hurricane Iris on October eighth. B.E.L.’s C.E.O. Lynn Young, in a press release, said that seventy-five percent of customers have had their current reinstated and that one hundred percent of high-voltage lines and ninety-five percent of the low-voltage system has been brought back on line. According to Young, the power will be fully restored by week’s end and as soon as customers are certain that their internal wiring is in good shape, they can reconnect to the grid. The B.E.L. crews have worked tirelessly since the disaster ably assisted by teams from the Cayman Islands and Guatemala.
