62-year-old drowns in Belize River

A sixty-two-year-old market vendor out west drowned in the Belize River on Friday night sometime after eleven.

of Duck Run Village and his brother went in search of his nephew in an area called Mennonite Beach in the village.  While at the river Molina Senior and his brother were drinking and later Molina’s brother realized that he was missing. His body was discovered floating in the river and it is believed that he accidentally fell into the water and drowned while under the influence. Police officers attached to San Ignacio Police Station were called out to the scene.

“Upon their arrival, they observed the body of an elderly Hispanic man later identified as Alvaro Molina, 62 years of Duck Run Village. According to his brother that himself and the deceased had gone in search of his nephew who was fishing and in the process whilst being out there they began consuming alcohol and sometime around 11 PM while he was looking for his brother, he was nowhere to be found. And upon searching the area of the river his brother was seen floating in the river. That is when he was taken out of the water and the officers were called to the area.”

“No there wasn’t, the post-mortem also had concluded since this afternoon and those are consistent. The results are consistent with drowning.”
