A Car Dealer is Acquitted of Possessing a False License

Charles Requeña

A car dealer was acquitted of possession of an alleged fake dealer’s license. In the courtroom of Justice Collin Williams, Charles Requeña was freed of the charge when the justice upheld a no case submission by Requeña’s attorney, Leeroy Banner. Banner submitted that the evidence against Requeña was weak since the document in question was never allowed into evidence. The dealer’s license in exhibit was determined inadmissible by the justice. Requeña was charged in November 2017 after police stopped his vehicle on Waters Lane, Belize City. A stamp on the license he presented to the police was fading and the police thought that he was acting suspicious. The administrator of the Belize Traffic Department at the time said that there was no corresponding document at the department. In the course of the trial, there was contradicting evidence as to how the police had handled the exhibit and today Requeña walked.
