Decapitated body found in Haulover Creek

Story Picture
Meanwhile, Three people are tonight in police custody after the decapitated body of man was recovered from the Haulover Creek. According to reports, police have detained three persons after the headless body, later identified as twenty-eight year old Enrique David Reyes, was found floating in the Haulover Creek behind Belama phase one. Reyes was last seen around 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, with the three detainees in a skiff just behind the Northern Fishermen Cooperatives on North Front Street. The men were apparently headed up the Haulover Creek. After the Reyes family filed a missing person report on Friday, the police conducted a search, but it was not until Sunday afternoon that they received word that a body had been found floating in the creek. According to the Reyes family, they believe Reyes was robbed and then killed. The family says Reyes had a moneybag strapped to his waist at the time of his disappearance, but that both the bag and his watch were missing when the body was found. However, it is widely rumoured that drugs may have been motive in the brutal murder. Up to news time, no charges have been filed, but police say they continue to question the three men detained.
