Spain appoints new ambassador

This morning, the Ambassador of Spain presented his letters of credentials to Governor General Sir Colville Young. His Excellency Ramon Gandarias Alonso De Celis also paid a courtesy call to Prime Minister Musa where he presented a gift of five hundred coffee table books. But more importantly, the new ambassador also pledged to donated more than one hundred thousand Belize dollars to the Hurricane Iris Relief Fund and discussed the possibility of providing medium and long-term assistance to the recovery efforts. During the meeting, P.M. Musa and Ambassador Gandarias also signed a scientific and technical co-operation agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Spain and the Government of Belize. Under the agreement, a framework for future technical co-operation through the exchange of expertise and information will be created.
