Trio Sentenced to Life, but Will Serve 21 More Years for Murder
Three Belize City men known on the streets as Ants, Billy and Fabby today learnt their fate in the murder of Joseph Myers. Myers was gunned down on the compound of the Living Hope School on Maskall Street, Belize City in June 2012. The trio: Andy Forbes, Robert Vasquez and Clinton Tyrone Harris were sentenced to life imprisonment and given a thirty-year prison term in the courtroom of Justice Colin Williams. But since the justice took into consideration the time they have spent behind bars, the men will serve twenty-one years more.
The trio was convicted on October twenty-sixth, 2018 for Myers’ murder after D.P.P. Crown Counsel Kileru Awich led evidence in their trial which placed the trio at the murder scene. The crown’s main witness was a childhood friend of the accused men. He told the court that on the day in question they were socializing on Living Hope School compound when they were ambushed by the accused men. One of the shots hit Joseph Myers and died on the spot.
