Fire in Jane Usher Boulevard Area! Wooden Home Destroyed

There was a fire earlier this afternoon in Belize City. The blaze completely destroyed a family home on JR Street in the Jane Usher Boulevard area just before two. It left six persons without a roof over their heads. When we arrived on the scene the fire-fighters had already contained the blaze from spreading to two other houses within the property. The owner was visibly shaken and had to be taken to the hospital.  We spoke with Delvorine Arana who lives a stone’s throw from the fire. She told us that she saw the smoke and ran out to see what was happening.

“When I reach I just see the whole house under flames; full flames.”

“Your niece lives there alone?”

“No. She lives there with her family but fi she house just get water damaged. Yes dah relatives to my niece; my niece bwai bredda.”

“You know if anybody mi deh inside at the time of the fire?”

“Nobody mi deh inside when the fire but they lost everything. They really lost everything.”

“I know it is early – but any idea what may have caused the fire?”

“No idea. No idea.”
