Alexander Ruiz is Finally Charged for Murder
Twelve days after the murder of Luis Cabrera Junior in Punta Gorda, his alleged killer is hauled before the court and arraigned for murder. Over the weekend, thirty-seven-year-old Alexander Ruiz was charged for the homicide that occurred on the night of March thirteenth at Dahanny’s Bar in that southern municipality. Cabrera Junior was stabbed to the neck with a broken bottle allegedly by Ruiz, who then fled the scene on a motorcycle with William Garcia. The duo would end up in an accident on the San Antonio Road and Garcia lost his life. Today, ACP Joseph Myvett explained the delay is proffering charges against Ruiz for the murder.

“We are aware, but there are certain procedures that have to be followed. The first being that if those who are complaining do not know the accused, then there has to be the issue of an identification parade. And in that, the police would have to find persons of a similar description. So that was one of the reasons for the hold up as well as other statements were recorded during the time.”

“Is it hard operating in a situation like that where there is uproar in the community and there are rumblings of incompetence, corruption, all types of things unfairly; however, is it something that affects you all from a pressure perspective that madas mien?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“No, I don’t think so. I think that the police does need time to do its investigation. In order for us to secure a conviction, we do need our time to do our investigation. It will not necessarily happen at the pace that people expect.”
