Belize City Resident Anthony Carballo Charged for San Pedro Double Murder

Anthony Carballo

On the crime blotter…A resident of Tigris Street in Belize City was arraigned in San Pedro Magistrate’s Court today for the double murder of Deon Faber and Allen Martinez that occurred on Thursday afternoon in the island town. Police believe that Anthony Carballo, another man and a woman who carried a baby, travelled to Ambergris Caye via water taxi. Their mission was to carry out the execution of Faber and Martinez at Faber’s Boca del Rio house. Carballo was nabbed just after two p.m. on Thursday, but his accomplices, who are known to the police, fled and returned to Belize City by water taxi. ASP Alejandro Cowo says that they continue to look for the couple, captured on surveillance camera.

“Has the police been able to identify a motive in this particular case?”

ASP Alejandro Cowo

“It is something that we are still looking at as we have received different information as to what could have possibly led to the shooting.”

Duane Moody

“Now the other man and the woman that are being sought, these persons are known to police, I understand because the surveillance footage from the area captured their faces. What kind of investigation is being done here in Belize City to get these persons into custody?”

ASP Alejandro Cowo

“I know that the police have conducted several searches at their residence however they have not been found up to this moment.”

Reporter

“Now sir, we know that Tigris Street is central to the zone of influence for a certain Belize City gang. Was this something that is related to a gang?”

ASP Alejandro Cowo

“We don’t believe it is a gang issue. We believe that there are other motives behind it that we are still trying to ascertain. But we don’t believe it has anything to do with gangs.”
