Teenager shoots woman with pellet gun

A Belize City teenager has been arrested after he shot a woman with an airgun. According to police, the fourteen year old boy stood on his veranda on Mahogany Street and shot twenty-nine year old Melva Hyde in the abdomen with a Crossman airgun. Apparently, Hyde was in the middle of a heated argument with another woman, believed to be a good friend of the youth, when she was shot. Hyde says while she was talking she saw someone taking aim at her from the veranda and then felt pain in her stomach. The teenager has been charged with aggravated assault and grievous harm. The gun has been held in evidence.
