Two die in weekend traffic accident
An eleven-year-old girl and her cousin died in a traffic accident on the Western Highway over the weekend. Thirty-five year old Dionicio Canto and his cousin, eleven-year-old Keyla Canto, were thrown from the vehicle they were travelling in and died on the highway. Police reports are that the Cantos had been travelling to Belize City with Francisco Tzib of San Antonio Village when the rear wheel of Tzib’s Toyota pick-up broke off, spinning the vehicle out of control and sent it careening into traffic from the opposite direction. The pick-up collided with an Isuzu before running off the side of the road. The Cantos received serious head and body injuries and were pronounced dead on arrival at the K.H.M.H. The passengers in the Isuzu, Roberto and Geronomo Mai sustained injures and remain at the K.H.M.H. in serious condition.
