Farmer shot by jealous husband
Jealousy was apparently the cause of another shooting over the weekend, this time in the Orange Walk District. Fifty-seven year old Manuel Salazar, a Guatemalan farmer, told police that he was walking on the Northern Highway on Saturday when he met a woman, Ruth Ramirez, and began a conversation with her. Salazar says just as he was about to continue on his way, he was shot by Ramirez’s husband, who has been identified as Celso Ramirez. Salazar sustained pellet wounds to his back, buttocks and forearm and remains at the Orange Walk hospital in a stable condition. Police have yet to locate and detain Celso Ramirez.
