A pair of young men, both residents of Dangriga, came under deadly gunfire early this morning, inside a residence on an offshoot of M&M Street in the CET Site area of Belize City. Seventeen-year-old Rakeem Cruz and twenty-two-year-old Jordan Lorenzo were injured when they were attacked sometime around six-forty-five a.m. Inside the living room, Lorenzo’s lifeless body was later discovered by responding officers. He was observed lying on a mattress, while the seventeen-year-old minor was also seen with an apparent gunshot wound to the right shoulder. Investigators have not been able to determine a motive in the fatal shooting. At the scene this morning, an emergency response team hefted Cruz to a nearby ambulance, while a team of policemen secured the perimeter. Moments later, the motionless body of Lorenzo was carted away in the pan of a police mobile. Cruz was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
