Thieves Clean Out Small Business and Then Set it on Fire
Thieves wiped out a small business and then set it on fire in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Marta’s Snack Shop was located on the corner of Lacroix and Balan Streets in Belize City, but just after one p.m., the structure went up in flames. Police were able to detain several persons seen fleeing from the scene and today ASP Alejandro Cowo shared the details on the investigation.

“The owner Ms Martha Ramirez, forty six year old of that same address mentioned that she had closed her fast food place at about nine pm leaving everything in order. Sometime after two she was awaken by the dogs barking in the area, that is when she woke up and she observed that the business place was engulfed in flames. The entire house was destroyed as well as its contents inside the business place. As a result police conducted an investigation and detained three minors who are presently in custody who will be charged for burglary and one of them will be charged for arson.”

“What we understand was that the place was burglarized first, items were stolen and taken to another area where police found some of the items and before leaving it is when one of the male persons lit up the place.”
