2 Detained for City Murder

Police say two persons are detained and being questioned about the murder of twenty-two-year-old Jordan Lorenzo and the shooting of minor, Rakeem Cruz. The two Dangriga residents were inside a house around seven on Wednesday morning when two men went inside and fired multiple shots killing Lorenzo in the living room and injuring Cruz who was sleeping. Police say that the two had just arrived in the city over the weekend and were waiting for a transaction to happen. Here’s what police know so far about the deadly shooting.

“What police have gathered so far is that both male persons along with another person had travelled from Dangriga to Belize City during the weekend and they were staying with some friends in the CET Site area. However on yesterday’s morning just about six in the morning, they went and stayed at that house while the other friends left from there to do an errand and upon returning back that is when they found the male person motionless and the other person injured.”

“We believe that it is some sort of drug transaction that went bad that cause the death of Mr. Lorenzo and the injury to Mr. Cruz.”
