Shrimp farm escape major damage by hurricane
There’s more good news of sorts for the south, in that according to a government assessment, the farmed shrimp industry has suffered less damage than originally feared. Only three of the ten farms south of Dangriga suffered damage and this, totalling a little over two point three million dollars, was primarily to ancillary infrastructure. Ponds and shrimp were barely affected and the vital industry is expected to recover quickly. The worst hit farms are Aquamar and Nova Toledo.
