B.E.L. works hard to restore power to south
Belize Electricity Limited is moving rapidly to restore power to areas devastated by Hurricane Iris. According to a B.E.L. release, twenty-six percent of affected customers have had power restored and that percentage should climb to fifty by the end of the week. Full service, according to B.E.L.’s Michael Polonio, should be returned to all customers by November ninth. B.E.L. reminds consumers in the stricken areas that their internal electrical systems should be inspected by a license electrician prior to connection to ensure that no damage has been caused to their household wiring.
