Freediving cost biologist his life
More details surrounding the death of a twenty-five year old diver on Thursday were made available today. According to a press release from the Coastal Zone Management Authority and Institute, Luke D’Silva, the biologist for Laughing Bird Caye died while conducting a reef assessment on the southern part of the reef in the wake of Hurricane Iris. News 5 understands that D’Silva was free diving in the channel between South Water Caye and Carrie Bow Caye when he failed to resurface. Funeral services for D’Silva will take place Sunday in Belmopan.
