A Family is Homeless After Fire Guts 3 Houses in San Roman, Stann Creek
A family from San Roman, Stann Creek remains without a roof over their heads after the place they once called home went up in flames on Monday. Three thatch houses belonging to Juan Cucul were gutted when a fire broke inside one of the buildings that did not have electricity. The fire began shortly after eleven p.m. and spread quickly to the adjacent structures in the yard. Everything was lost in the blaze, which is suspected to be a case of arson. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett, police are looking for a relative of Cucul for questioning on the incident.

“On Monday morning, shortly after midnight, Independence police responded to a house fire in San Roman Village in the Stann Creek District where upon arrival one Juan Cucul, the owner of the three thatch houses, reported that shortly after eleven p.m., he was awaken by smoke coming from one of the three thatch houses in his yard. He got up but was unable to control the fire so the entire three thatch houses that he had in his yard were completely destroyed by fire. In relation to this, police is seeking one person for questioning. According to Mister Cucul, the thatch house did not have any electricity.”
