Guns and money seized from suspicious plane
A mid-afternoon police operation in Orange Walk has resulted in the seizure of close to twenty-five thousand U.S. dollars and several weapons. According to police reports, around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, police received a tip that a plane would be landing at an airstrip near Blue Creek in the Orange Walk District. Police lay-waited the white single-engine plane and immediately detained the four occupants, all of whom are believed to be Mexicans. Inside the aircraft, police found two nine millimetre hand guns, one .40 pistol, fifty live nine millimetre bullets and nineteen live rounds .40 ammunition. In addition to the guns, police discovered a cache of cash, including more than twenty-four thousand U.S. dollars, approximately six thousand pesos and sixty-nine Belize dollars. The detained men have yet to be charged.
