And while we’re on the subject of donations, we here at Channel 5 have been swamped with requests from potential donors asking where they can send money and supplies for the relief effort. At the same time numerous well-meaning groups and individuals have asked us to publicise their efforts in the hope of attracting donations. Unable to satisfy everyone and still provide a nightly newscast we are asking viewers, at home and abroad, who do not know where else to channel their contributions, to donate to an organisation with an excellent track record for long term commitment and effectiveness: The Belize Red Cross. Money can be sent to any bank in Belize to the account of the “Hurricane Iris Red Cross Appeal”, while food, clothing and supplies can be sent to Red Cross headquarters at number one Gabourel Lane, Belize City or any branch office in the districts.
