Stepfather fined $700 for molesting 7-yr. old

It is not everyday that justice handed down in the courts is more perverted than the crime itself, but that’s apparently just what has happened today. A man who pled guilty to sexually abusing his seven-year-old stepdaughter was ordered to pay a mere seven hundred dollars and was later released! Magistrate Richard Swift of Courtroom Number Six sentenced the Belize City man to pay five hundred dollars in a trust for the child and two hundred in court fees. News 5 understands that medical evidence presented in court revealed that the abuse was so forceful the child’s hymen was ruptured. Even though we would like to tell you the name of the person who would do this to a child, in order to protect her identity, we will not do so. However, by all accounts, the punishment he received hardly seems to fit the crime.
