An Easter Message from Bishop Philip Wright

Philip Wright

The Easter weekend is upon us and will end on Monday.  Whilst wishing Belizeans a safe and blessed Easter weekend, the focus should remain on the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus.  Earlier today, Bishop Philip Wright, during an appearance on Open Your Eyes, reflected on the significance of the death of Christ and what the Christian festival of Easter means.

Bishop Philip Wright, Anglican Diocese

“When I look at the Easter story, when I look at the resurrection narratives and journey with the people around Jesus, watching him going through all this and then coming to that morning when something has happened, and I am prepared to be the human in this and say, even at that moment they didn’t understand you know.  They walked away saying, “I don’t know what happened here.”  Saying something is wrong, and I think that’s why Thomas is one of my beloved in this story because he said, “Listen, I’m not believing it until I see it.”  And he’s really you and I in many instances, eh.  I would want to say to people today, people of faith and people maybe without faith, that there is something wholesome here, there is something redeeming here in this story that is beyond just the words you read in a book.  It’s about life, you know, it’s about the journey of life and the need to have hope.”
