Ravin Gillett Remanded for Attempted Murder in Crooked Tree
A nineteen-year-old fisherman of Crooked Tree Village is on remand at the Belize Central Prison tonight after being arraigned on a pair of indictable offenses, following a brawl in that rural community. Elton Baiza was badly injured and left for dead on April seventh when he got into a physical altercation with Ravin Gillett, whom it is alleged was joined by others in inflicting serious bodily injuries to Baiza. On Wednesday evening, Gillett was arraigned on charges of attempted murder and grievous harm when he appeared unrepresented before Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts-Anderson. Bail was denied on the grounds that Baiza remains in a critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and should his condition deteriorate and he succumbs to the injuries, Gillett’s charges will be upgraded to murder. Ravin Gillett remains on remand until June twenty-fifth.
