Corozal Businessman Critical after Beat Down

A Corozal businessman is in a critical condition after he was badly beaten inside his home. Police say that they don’t have much details about what happened but cops in Corozal responded to the scene sometime around eight this morning. It was there that they found the owner of Maya World Guest House suffering from extensive head and body injuries. ASP Alejandro Cowo says that while police are looking at all angles – they are not able to say if the attack resulted from a robbery or a personal matter.

“Corozal Police visited Maya World Guesthouse located on Second Street North, Corozal Town, where upon arrival it was reported to them that the owner, Mister Byron Chu, was observed laying in the kitchen of the house with severe injuries to his body. He was bleeding profusely and was transported to the Corozal Community Hospital. I was made to understand that he is on his way to the K.H.M.H. because of the degree of injuries that he received.  So far police is in the area; they have checked the establishment and there is no sign of breaking into the building. We have not established if anything was stolen. All that we have is that he was inside his residence at about five in the morning when persons entered and attacked him. We cannot tell at this moment if anything was stolen or anything is missing from the said establishment.”
