Man Convicted for Assaulting Ex-Wife
A father of ten children was convicted today of sexually assaulting the mother of seven of his children. The court ordered forty-year-old Andy Garcia of Belize City to be on good behaviour for this year or he will have to spend six months in jail. This morning, Garcia pleaded guilty to sexual and common assault as well as insulting words upon his estranged common-law wife, a thirty-six year-old woman of Belize City. The common assault charge was dismissed by Chief Magistrate Sharon Fraser, who was of the view that the charges of sexual assault and common assault resulted from the same action. His suspended jail term is for sexual assault for grabbing the breast of his common-law wife; the fine of one hundred dollars is for insulting words he used on her during the domestic dispute on April twenty-first, 2019. Garcia apologized saying he never meant to hurt her and was shocked that he ended before the court.
