Luke Palacio is Re-elected as 1st Vice President of B.N.T.U.
The Belize National Teachers Union is winding up a two-day convention in Corozal Town. The event started on Wednesday and was wrapping up around six o’clock this evening. One of the highlights of the convention was the election of first vice president of the union. Former national president, Luke Palacio, who was serving as first vice president was contested by Otilio Munoz from the Orange Walk branch of the B.N.T.U. When the votes were counted, Palacio continued to enjoy the support of the teachers and was returned as first vice-president. The two-day event also dealt with a number of issues such as hardship allowances and other unresolved issues with the Ministry of Education. Of note is that the other three posts were not challenged, which means that Senator Elena Smith prevailed as national president.
