Bail Denied for Man Accused in Crooked Tree Beat Down
A Crooked Tree resident accused of administering a beating on a Belize City man was denied bail for the offense of attempted murder. Nineteen-year-old Ravin Gillett was unsuccessful in his bail application at the Supreme Court today. Gillett has been on remand prison since his arraignment on April seventeenth, 2019. He is charged with the attempted murder and grievous harm on Elton Baiza. Baiza was badly beaten and had to be rushed to the hospital for treatment where he remains in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit of the K.H.M.H. Police suspect others were involved in the beating which occurred early in the morning of April seventh, 2019. Baiza was found in the Jabiru area of Crooked Tree with a wound to his head, bleeding and complaining of pain. It is suspected that he was intoxicated when he was attacked. Police later arrested Gillett.
