Roaring Creek Resident Injured in Crossfire
A Roaring Creek resident remains in a stable condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital recovering from a gunshot wound to the head. Thirty-seven-year-old Mervin Young was shot just above the eye on Sunday night around ten o’clock as he was in a vehicle, dropping off a relative in the Hattieville area of Roaring Creek Village. Young was caught in the crossfire between persons in the area. Police say that while he was not the intended target, they have not been able to establish a motive for the gunfire.

“Roaring Creek police responded to information of a shooting in the Hattieville area of Roaring Creek, where Landy Thomas reported to them that while driving his silver in colour Saturn Vue and was accompanied by one Mervin Young, thirty-seven years of a Roaring Creek address when they were fired upon by a male person who seemingly was firing at another person. As a result, Young sustained one gunshot type injury above his right eye. He was transported to the Western Regional Hospital and later to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he is now in a stable condition.”
